In the previous lesson, We learned:
Fact number 1: Jesus Christ is the only Saviour
Fact number 2: Jesus Christ died and rose again for our salvation

Today, we learn two more facts.

Fact number 3: Jesus Christ is able to save

Hebrews 7:25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Matthew 1:21. ...and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

According to these verses, what does the name Jesus mean?

  1. Messiah
  2. Son of God
  3. Saviour
  4. Lord

The answer is Saviour

1 Timothy 1:15-16. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

If Christ could save Paul (and He did), is He able to save other sinners also? Yes.

Fact number 4: Jesus Christ is willing to save

John 6:37. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Will Jesus ever refuse a sinner who comes to Him for salvation? No.

1 Timothy 2:3-4. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

What is God's will and desire for all men? the answer is: that all men be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.

In the next lesson, we will learn about fact number 5, and the 15 salvation promises God makes to the sinner.
