Theme: The war of 2 natures

In Christ, the Believer is free from sin. However, Paul tries to explain the reality of the new nature of the Believer.

He shows 2 natures present with the Believer.

  1. The law of sin. Present in our members because we still carry this body of death. The Believer still carries the flesh. The law of sin is evident in our members (appetites, desires)
  2. The law of my mind (or law of God). At work in my inner man.

These 2 are at war. He then shows that, the believer can serve any of these laws.

And this is the meaning of Romans 6:16

[Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?]
