We learned that there are four facts that are true concerning the believer's redemption in Christ. In the last lessons, we learned about the Great Redeemer, and the terrible slavery, and the mighty Act.
Today we learn about the new Owner.
The new Owner
Revelation 5:9. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.
From the passage, we see that Christ has redeemed us to our God. Therefore, we now belong to God.
Titus 2:14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
- What did Christ redeem us from, according to the passage? all iniquity.
- And has purified us unto whom? Himself.
- Note that a perculiar people shoud be translated a people of His own
Romans 6:22. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
According to Romans 6:22, now that we are redeemed, we have been made free from sin. And we have become servants (slaves) to righteousness.
- What a wonderful slavery.
- According to Hebrews 9:12, how long will our wonderful redemption last? Forever. (Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us).
